Seal breeding season at Donna Nook, Lincolnshire, Britain – 17 Nov 2015
One of the best loved nature spectacles in Britain is currently getting underway at the Lincolnshire reserve, which is home to one of the largest and most accessible breeding colonies of grey seals in the UK. Each year hundreds of seals make their way to the beaches at the reserve for the start of the annual mating season – an amazing spectacle that attracts tens of thousands of visitors. It is such a popular event that dedicated viewing areas are set up at the foot of the sand dunes in order to reduce disturbance to the seals. The area is salt marsh, and is used by a number of Royal Air Force stations in Lincolnshire for bombing practice.
